The purses are not as large, there are no ropes to hold back the galleries, and there is absolutely no television coverage on the last day. However, despite these facts, mini-tour golf is as thrilling as the PGA Tour golf on Sunday afternoons. This is my first year playing golf professionally, and already it has been a very exciting experience. I am playing on the Tarheel Tour, a well-known and well-respected mini-tour based out of Charlotte, NC. It has been around for about seven years now, and has continued to grow since its conception. The Tarheel Tour will carry a full schedule of 21 events this year. Most of these events are three-day, 54-hole tournaments with purses averaging close to $115,000.
