PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - April 14, 2009 - Two-time British Open Champion Greg Norman will headline a legendary 156-player field at the 70th Senior PGA Championship. Norman is among 25 former Major champions who will compete for the prestigious Alfred S. Bourne Trophy at Canterbury Golf Club in Beachwood, Ohio, May 19-25.
We've lost three straight, and five of six. Throw out The Miracle Comeback at Brookline in 1999, and we haven't beat the Euros since 1993.
Finally, at the spurring of Captain Paul Azinger, the American point system and selection process was tweaked to more of a "what have you done for me lately" system. In 2006, guys like JJ Henry, Vaughn Taylor, and Brett Wetterich made the team due to wins in the spring/early summer, then hung on to get the last couple automatic berths, even though they were playing like shit once September rolled around. We had no chance.
Also, 'Zinger gets four Captains picks now instead of the previous two. Top 8 points qualifiers make it instead of the top 10. Also, 'Zinger gets to make his picks two weeks later than normal to make sure he's really got the hottest golfers.
The changes should help. They can't hurt.

As it stands now, we got four guys locked in ...
Hey everyone.
As you can now see, CTown Golf is close to becoming a reality. The website and many of its functions are now up, but we'll be working hard on it over the next couple weeks with the hopes of really having a product we like on March 1st. Until then, we'll continue to tweak, add features, recruit writers, and add content to get to the site more where we want it for an initial launch.
I've wanted to do this golf site for a while now, because there are no really good area golf websites out there. There are some with good info, but the look, feel, and features are poor. Most others just aren't updated regularly. This one will be. In addition to being very committed to this project, I have other good people that want to be involved, and I also have the experiences of building and growing TheClevelandFan, which has seen increases in traffic for 23 months straight. The site will have updated content. Will look very sharp once done. And we will continue to add features and functionalities as we go forward. In time, the site will be the ultimate NE OH golf reference stop, with all of the following features ...
